The Window
~
The window of my sad soul is open wide,
As a September breeze cools my sorrow;
Having bid farewell to a lost love at even'tide,
I await the breaking light of a new tomorrow.
~
With hope, I gaze through the glassy frame,
Resting peacefully within this heart full of dreams;
Now knowing it was not I who was to blame,
For these memories of misty goodbye scenes.
~
Curtains hanging as if suspended in space,
To adorne the frayed sides of a weathered soul;
My tears like Windex cleaning out that place
Where the broken paine pleads to be made whole.
~
Then, while peering through the window screen,
A shadowy moonlit figure turns my way once again;
With wise lady eyes, I recognize she who has been
Beside me all the time; the one who calls me friend.
