Alternative lifestyles have become culturally accepted but are still little understood by those who practice heterosexual monogomous relationships.  The inclusion of a category which provides information about alternative relationships is necessary.  No resource guide of this kind would be complete without it.
Sad to say, the immediate assumption by some is that this kind of material is objectionable.  Even others perceive it to be offensive.  I disagree with both views.
Regardless of one's sexual orientation, the fact is that those who are gay have always been with us as a real segment of every society, no matter how open or oppressive, throughout the history of the human race.  This generation has become much more tolerant of homosexuality.  It is woven into the fabric of our  contemporary American culture.  They represent a sizeable portion of our population and one that refuses to be pushed back into the proverbial "closet" ever again.
Furthermore, those who practice an alternative lifestyle, whether the claim that it is due to genetics or by choice, do experience deep and committed primary relationships. Their need to love and be loved is just as real.  They, too, desire the joy and fulfillment of a loving, caring relationship.
Therefore, an index of articles on topics pertaining to alternative relationships is included here.  Their purpose is to simply inform without bias or condemnation; without approval or disapproval.  If their content does nothing else, it is hoped that at least the visitors to this site will leave with a more tolerant attitude toward others, regardless of their sexual orientation.

The mission of this not-for-profit website is to promote clear insights and toleration regarding the many variations of primary relationships that exist in our world.  We ask for neither acceptance or approval but hope that each visitor who reviews the pages of this site will leave them with a better understanding of the numerous cultural, historical, preferential, religious, sexual, and sociological approaches to coupling that have always existed and will continue to exist as long as there are at least two human beings living on this planet.  If the effort put into creating and maintaining this site results in others coming to the realization that the basic human need to love and be loved takes on many forms which are accepted by those who practice them, whether right or wrong as determined by the personal belief system of others, then it will have served it's purpose well.
